Traditional assessment captures what students know at a single moment, usually through selected-response questions. These are efficient but limited: they show whether a student picked the right answer, not how they reasoned or whether they can apply an idea in context. Performance assessments capture more, but they are time-consuming to score.
Scenario-based learning offers a middle path. When a student chooses how to allocate a paycheck, decides whether to take on debt, or responds to an unexpected expense, the choices themselves reveal understanding. Patterns across many decisions are often more informative than a single quiz score.
In RamIQ, teachers attach rubric criteria to the decisions inside a scenario. The system suggests a score based on those actions, and the teacher reviews, adjusts and finalizes it. The result is richer evidence for the gradebook without asking teachers to watch every play session.
