Research on homework has long shown mixed results: moderate amounts can support achievement in secondary school, but the benefits depend heavily on task quality and student engagement. Teachers frequently report that completion rates fall when homework feels like repetition without purpose.
One low-risk way to experiment is extra credit. Assigning a short RamQuest scenario as optional extra credit lets teachers see how students respond without restructuring a course. If students engage, the same scenario can become regular homework with a rubric attached.
Because scenarios are decision-based, they also fit far more subjects than finance. Math teachers can use interest and percentages, social studies teachers can explore trade-offs, and English teachers can pair a scenario with a reflective writing prompt. The results flow back to the gradebook, so teachers do not need to collect anything by hand.
